Kilburn families celebrate opening of Brent Hubs Kilburn

Families from Kilburn celebrated the official opening of the Brent Hubs Kilburn at a fun event for the whole family on Saturday 13 July.

Residents were able to meet the Brent Hubs Team and other local organisations to find out what support is available for them, and how they can access it.

There was entertainment for all including celebrity DJ and MC, Rodney P, face painting, bingo raffle and lots of yummy food from across the world.

Brent Hubs Kilburn is the second hub to open following the success of the original Brent Hubs Harlesden which was launched as a pilot in March 2017.

The Brent Hub Kilburn opened its doors to the public on 8 May after undergoing an extensive refurbishment. The Hub Team have since welcomed 587 people and fully resolved 527 enquiries.

Residents can access a variety of services at the hub including:

Housing advice
Employment support
Benefit advice
Food bank access
Digital support (including online applications and accessing services)

The Brent Hubs Kilburn combines services offered by Brent Council alongside local voluntary and community organisations, making it much easier for residents to access everything in one place. It is especially designed for those residents who might need extra support.

Councillor Margaret McLennan, Deputy Leader of Brent Council said: "I'm so pleased to see how well the hub is being used in just two months. We want the hubs to help residents resolve their issues but also give them the confidence and knowledge to help themselves. The space is still new but it will aim to offer even more services based on what residents have asked for and need."

Brent Council's Cabinet gave the go ahead in September 2018 for the hub model to be rolled out across Brent in a phased approach over the next two years. The next hubs will be based in Willesden, Wembley and Kingsbury.
